Rachel Bilson’s dermatologist has shared her top tips for movie star skin.

Dr. Debra Jaliman, the author of Skin Rules: Trade Secrets from a Top New York Dermatologist, has revealed ways to keep skin healthy during the summer months.

She stresses the importance of protecting your skin from the rays, even if you’re blessed with olive skin like Rachel.

“The American Academy of Dermatology recommends SPF 30 for all skin colors,” she explained to People adding that “it’s also important to look for sunscreen that blocks UVA and UVB rays.”

Debra also advises wearing sunscreen at all times to maintain a red carpet-ready complexion.

“Sun damage is cumulative, so even five minutes per day in the sun adds to broken blood vessels, brown spots and wrinkles,” she stressed.

A moisturizer with SPF doesn’t always suffice. Debra stresses that a good sunscreen should always be worn.

“It’s fine for the city, but not good enough for the beach or if you’re doing sports,” she said.

When outdoors, Debra suggests also shielding your hair and scalp with a sunscreen or a hat with an SPF 30 rating on the fabric.

“Most people miss important areas like the tops of the ears, feet, ankles and the tip of the nose,” she said. “When you’re on the beach reapply every two hours, or when you get out of the water.” © Cover Media
