Last night, the 18th Annual SAG Awards kept red carpet season excitement in full swing. As usual, a handful of stars managed to raise the fashion bar, while some met the looks they immortalized at the
Golden Globes. Others surpassed them entirely, making this year’s SAG Awards one of the best dressed yet. Here, we explore the eight most exciting red carpet looks and why they’ve piqued our interest.

Michelle Williams

Michelle Williams personified elegance in her stunning ankle-length red Valentino gown. Distancing herself from her velvet Golden Globes dress, the
My Week With Marilyn actress embraced spring’s delicate femininity through lace sleeves and lace detailing. Coupling simple yellow gold Fred Leighton jewels with an understated Lanvin clutch, she let her gown speak for itself and as such, raised Oscar red carpet anticipation.

Emma Stone

Channelling Spring 2012’s feminine influence, Emma Stone appeared in a striking black custom Alexander McQueen tea-length dress, shoes and bag. In addition to the gown’s lace bodice and full A-line skirt,
The Help actress used Tiffany & Co. Jean Schlumberger rings and Paloma Picasso earrings to further enhance the luscious 1950s design.

Emily Blunt
Donning a one-shoulder Oscar de la Renta Resort gown, Emily Blunt wowed in bright green. On top of pairing her chiffon dress with a Swarovski’s blush crystal and satin clutch, she offered a glimpse of skin through a thigh-high slit, proving that one can be both enticing and ladylike.

Viola Davis
SAG Award winner for Best Actress, Viola Davis cemented her place as both a master of her craft and the red carpet with her white Marchesa dress. Through gold detailing on the bodice, she paid homage to the
season’s metallic obsession while drawing further attention to the gown’s cinched waist. Balancing the low neckline through her sweeping floor-length skirt, she topped off her look off with Jimmy Choo shoes and Cathy Waterman jewellery, thus keeping gold on the minds of Academy heavyweights.

Angelina Jolie
Retreating to her colour comfort zone, Angelina Jolie kept black tantalizing via her backless Fall/Winter 2011 Jenny Peckham gown. The draped, liquid-metallic effect enhanced the design’s shimmery, clingy fabric. Using vintage House of Lavande yellow gold hoop earrings, a black enamel cuff and Platt Boutique earrings to maintain the metallic theme.

Tilda Swinton
Last night, Tilda Swinton wowed in a custom off-white Alber Elbaz for Lanvin gown. Capitalizing on spring’s enthusiasm for the shade, she adopted another seasonal trend by donning bronze platform sandals, thus increasing her goddess-inspired look. Balancing the dress’ deep-V through a gathered jersey design, she embraced minimalism by using her bright hair and red lipstick to accentuate the gown’s crisp beauty. We Need To Talk About Tilda, more like it.
