Kate Middleton embraces her signature style top to toe. In her wardrobe and accessory choices, she rarely goes for high fashion exclusive designers – instead she sticks to her British roots and supports smaller, independent designers.

SLIDESHOW: 10 reasons we love KATE MIDDLETON

We take a look at some of Kate’s most iconic accessories, from shoes to jewellery and, of course, her many hats.

Kate Middleton accessories: Shoes
Whether she is attending a glitzy Hollywood event, a posh horse race, grocery shopping, or simply walking her new puppy Lupo on the beach, Kate Middleton always has the perfect shoes for the occasion. For formal events, the Duchess prefers a classic pump, most often from British designers like LK Bennett and Rupert Sanderson. Her LK Bennett taupe pumps caused a sensation last summer as she wore them throughout her Canada tour. This down-to-earth Duchess does her own grocery shopping and usually does so in favorite ballet flat, London Sole, the British answer to Repetto. And when she is ready to get a little down and dirty, and heading into nature for a hunting session or to walk her puppy, Kate sports a true British classic: the rubber boot. Her brand of choice is Le Chameau, an English label with a French name, dating back to 1927.

Kate Middleton accessories: Handbags
The Duchess owns only a handful of handbags — she is more of a shoe fiend. It’s probably the reason that the bags she chooses are timeless classics. Take, for example, her two Mulberry “Polly” gravel push-lock satchels, a simple black bag that she toted on her trip to Canada last summer. Another classic bag that Kate loves is Tod’s ‘D’ bag, named after Princess Diana – a sweet fashion tribute to her late mother-in-law. For most occasions, the Duchess doesn’t need anything more substantial than a clutch, because we’re sure that the Queen-to-be doesn’t need to lug much around. She often turns to LK Bennett’s classic clutches, owning one in pretty much every colour. On her visit to Canada, Kate surprised everyone with a very unconventional and delightful fan clutch by Anya Hindmarch, pairing it with that adorable maple leaf fascinator.

Kate Middleton accessories: Jewellery

When it comes to jewellery, Kate is definitely a “less is more” type. Of course her giant sapphire engagement ring steals the show every time, but she is usually accessorized with a pair of drop earrings. Again, she seams to be loyal to a couple of designers: Kiki McDonough and Links of London. For her iconic engagement photo, she opted for Links of London’s ‘Hope Egg’ simple diamond
drop earrings, projecting a classic image fit for a Princess. She also wore Links of London to her first Hollywood event, opting for ‘Bubble Stiletto’ Iolite earrings. The Duchess also has a fondness for jewellery by Kiki McDonough, a designer that mixes semi-precious stones with the finest diamonds. When she is in a mood for a bright colour, Kate wears Kiki McDonough’s bright citrine drop earrings, which she sported on countless occasions, including the posh Epsom Derby.

Kate Middleton accessories: Hat
The Duchess always looks to British milliners for her chapeau needs, often working directly with them to create unique designs. The blue hat she wore to Duke of Edinburgh’s 90th birthday was by Rose Cory, the Queen Mother’s former milliner. She regularly wears creations by Rachel Trevor-Morgan, who is also hat-maker to the Queen. At Zara Phillips’ wedding, Kate wore a gorgeous beige topper with upside down roses, designed by Gina Foster. Her fun and feathery fascinator by Vivien Sheriff was enthusiastically received during her first public engagement, and she delighted the Epsom Derby attendees with her summery straw fascinator by Whiteley Fischer. The future Queen has been a fan of the legendary Philip Treacy ever since she wore his black topper to Prince William’s military academy graduation in 2006. But perhaps the most iconic of them all is the maple leaf fascinator by Sylvia Fletcher from Lock & Co, one of London’s oldest running milliner houses dating back to 1676. It sure didn’t come as a surprise when she was named “Hat Person of the Year” by The Headwear Association. Hats off to Kate.
