City of stars...looks like the Hollywood gods are smiling upon Lalaland this Oscar season! Also: Meryl Streep.
The nominations are rolling in as we type, and it's looking like a big day for everyone's favourite Ryan Gosling / Emma Stone fronted musical. With 14 nominations, it's the most nominated musical of all time (sorry Mary Poppins).
Speaking of most nominations...Meryl Streep just got a nod for her work in Florence Foster Jenkins, which just made her the most nominated person in Academy Award history.
Other notable nominations:
Canada's Denis Villeneuve as best director for Arrival!
Lion is getting an unexpected amount of love—best picture, best supporting actor and actress for Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman. (Remember when we interviewed Rooney Mara about her experience on the film?)
Kate Middleton wasn't holding back on the real talk on her first public appearance of 2017.
Visiting a treatment centre for parents with personality disorders, the Duchess of Cambridge was overheard telling one of the women receiving help:
"Parenting is tough," she said. "And with the experiences you've all witnessed, to do that on top of your own anxieties, and the lack of support you also received as mothers... I find it extraordinary how you've managed actually."
She also mentioned elsewhere that before arriving at the centre she'd just left "a room of six under threes" which we're taking to mean Princess Charlotte had the crew over for brunch and a marathon of Paw Patrol.
PS. That's a brand new Eponine coat K. Middy's wearing, FYI, which can be yours for around $2500 CAD.

Here's what we know so far.
Angelina Jolie has a new gig as the face of Guerlain's upcoming fragrance. The name of the perfume and details about the notes have not yet been released. Here's what we do know: According to the press release, the partnership was decided back in December 2015 while Jolie was directing a movie in Cambodia. Her first exposure to the brand was through her mother, who loved their powder. Perfumer Thierry Wasser was inspired by the actress/director to create a scent that expressed "the notes of a woman." Jolie donated the money she made from the campaign, which will launch in March, to charity.
We will update this post as we learn more.
4 healing balms you need in your life right now.
These bleak days of hiver test both our will to live and our skin’s ability to stay hydrated. And much like how a generous pour of Okanagan Pinot can top up our emotional reservoir, these waxy balms restore and seal in lost moisture. Soapwalla founder Rachel Winard’s The Balm, which she calls a “miracle product,” took hundreds of formula tweaks and three years to fine-tune. The jellylike moisturizer reduces redness and soothes damaged tissue so your skin won’t look like Jon Snow’s when he’s coming back from beyond the Wall. “Infusions of calendula, arnica and St. John’s wort work synergistically to reduce swelling and calm redness,” says Winard.
