First things first: there was a donut table at the shOws. Amazing, right?
Believe in Fashion
A well-heeled crowd congregated at the Arcadian Court in Toronto this afternoon to support the Princess Margaret Hospital's new drug development program (and catch a matinee fashion show by Narciso Rodriguez at the same time!) The audience feasted on a three-course meal and enjoyed a performance by Randy Bachman, who played acoustic renditions of his hits “You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet” and “Taking Care of Business.” Narciso Rodriguez, who had just flown in from Europe to attend the Believe in Fashion benefit and make sure his collection was presented without a hitch, admitted that he was touched by everyone's support of the Princess Margaret Hospital. After the show, his entire line was packed up and hand delivered to the
offices in New York for a shoot with Grace Coddington.

Vintage ladies at Tanya Taylor
Taylor made When T magazine christens your label “The one to watch” in your debut season, you know a style star has been born. Such is the case for womenswear designer Tanya Taylor, who showed her spring/summer 2013 line at the shOws yesterday. The retro inspired collection—think 50s style circle skirts, shrunken cardigans and head scarves—was sweet without being saccharine and had pops of the unexpected (an exposed midriff here, vibrant orange detailing there.) We have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of Tanya Taylor—and we can't wait.
For the second season in a row, Central Saint Martens grad Jean Pierre Braganza showed at Toronto Fashion Week in addition to London. His spring/summer 2013 collection for the ShOws featured tuxedo detailing, origami pleats, drop crotch pants and his signature asymmetrical cuts. He collaborated with Kiev-based artist Zinaida Lihacheva to produce the abstract prints that dominated much of his line. I was fortunate enough to be in the audience for his London Fashion Week presentation at Somerset House last month as well, and enjoyed the collection just as much the second time around—bravo, Jean-Pierre!
