In this special series, up-and-coming model Hayley McKee reports on her Toronto Fashion Week adventures.10:45 a.m. Fitting at Joeffer Caoc Day 2 of my amazing Fashion Week experience began with a fitting with the incredible Joeffer Caoc. His show was one of my favourites last year, and I couldn't wait to reunite with him, and try on his gorgeous collection—so feminine and sexy!! Sadly it was only a quick fitting and I was off once again. Never a dull moment! 11:30 a.m. Pink Tartan casting Off to 170 Bedford for an important casting—who doesn't want to walk in the incredible Pink Tartan show?! I walked it last year and I was star struck as I stood next to some of the biggest international models! As I was just preparing to walk, Amanda Laine—one of my model icons— walked in, and I felt like a little girl again gawking over my favourite celebrity. 2 p.m. Fashion Week tents After a quick coffee to re-energize me for the rest of my long day, I headed back over to the tents for hair and makeup for the Martin Lim show. After a simple makeup look of just foundation and a pop of colour on the lip, I was off to hair. I sat in front of the big mirror as my hair was sleekly pulled back into a bump on the back of my head, watching myself transform into a new person—girly, feminine and poised. I was ready. 6 p.m. Martin Lim show We got backstage and I jumped into my look: a bright coral pant that I wanted to take it home with me, it was the perfect comfy summer outfit! As I stood in line and watched each girl walk out, I didn't feel nervous at all—I had done this many times before.
Model snaps backstage. After the show, I calmly walked backstage, and all of sudden they slipped me into a long fuschia gown and ran me into a press room! They wanted me to pose in front of the Mercedes Benz car for the press and talk with the designers. So incredible! What an amazing surprise to end the day. I'm still shocked they chose me! Hopefully there are more surprises like that to come! xoxo Hayley
