JeremyLaingspring-2014

My favourite look from Jeremy Laing’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection.

Last night at The shOws, the lineup included a buzzy up-and-comer, Steven Tai, a Vancouver-born, London-based Central Saint Martins grad, and a fan favourite, Jeremy Laing, the Toronto-based fashion star. Steven Tai’s geek chic collection had me at hello. The designer presented his ready-to-wear line of slouchy sportswear inspired by the British bio-dome and pixelated art at Andrew Richards Designs last night. The designer played with silk embroidery and laser cut crepe fabric to create his patterns, resulting in a fresh, fun, technically savvy collection. While ordinarily we’re great fans of Jeremy Laing’s designs, this season we were underwhelmed by his collection. There’s no doubt that Laing is one of this country’s true talents, but his Spring 2014 line felt disjointed, veering from structured, body-con pinstriped numbers to
Dexter-style raincoats in one fell swoop. We did, however, fall for his chunky ankle boots, produced for the first time in collaboration with Tiffany Tuttle. Check out our
