Hudson’s Bay at Calgary’s Chinook Centre recently hosted a couple of weekend events to celebrate its super stylish reno
and introduce a selection of exciting fashion brands to the store. Inspired by ELLE Canada’s
shoppable videos, I stopped by Hudson’s Bay to check out the latest pieces and to create a look based on my mood. I was particularly excited to see what was new from Theory, Equipment, Rebecca Taylor, and Vince. The
“relaxed” #shopyourmood video best corresponded to my mood during my trip—probably because I was shopping on the weekend! With a relaxed mood in mind, I looked for Fall 2014 trends which embodied laidback chic, such as comfy knits and cozy sweaters. I also kept an eye out for ideal pairing pieces, including cardis with contrasting textures, skinny jeans and easy-to-wear boots.
shopyourmoodrelax2I adored the pleated faux leather skirt in the “relaxed” shoppable video, so when I spotted a similar piece by Rebecca Taylor, I knew I had to create a look with it. To complete the outfit, I threw my hair up in a high ponytail and paired the skirt with a John and Jenn sweater and Ash ankle boots. Another trend I loved from the “relaxed” video? Layering a cardigan over a knit sweater for extra comfort and warmth. I interpreted the trend by wearing a wool and faux leather cardigan by BB Dakota over a Theory sweater dress. The finishing touch: those amazing Ash ankle boots, my new fall fashion essential.
