A Marc Jacobs show is always something to behold – it’s always an experience – and his fall 2014 collection was no exception. Set up in a dream-like setting at the Park Armory in mid-town Manhattan, Jacobs played with the idea of new beginnings -- fitting since he has left Louis Vuitton and passed on his Marc by Marc Jacobs line to focus on his namesake label. The set had thick clouds hanging from the ceiling almost low enough to touch them, the palest blue seats made from cushiony foam and multiple aisle for the models to walk down – zigzagging across the room so everyone got a chance to see the looks up close. Here are five things you need to know about the Marc Jacobs fall 2014 show (including a Kardashian/Jenner sighting).

1. It may have been hard to recognize her with that hair and makeup, but Kendall Jenner of the Kardashian/Jenner clan made a huge modeling jump when she walked for Marc Jacobs. marc-jacobs-fall-2014-7 2. Jacobs skipped the traditional music to set the stage. Jessica Lange did a voice over of “Happy Days Are Here Again,” the phrases repeating over and over again, “happy days are here again, so long sad times, go long bad times, we are rid of you at last, howdy gay times”. It was trance like and set a calming vibe over the crowd. marc-jacobs-fall-2014-3 3. Models were made to all look the same – wigs that left you wondering what the actual colour was (blonde, pink, purple, brown?) in a super blunt cut paired with bleached brows and a line of brown shadow in the crease was futuristic and almost alien like. The clothes may have looked minimalist at a glance, but the details were still there, the shapes were just less extreme. Scoop neck tanks over slightly flared pants, knit leggings that hung over sneakers paired with ribbed knit sweaters – it looked like lounge wear from the future – comfortable and easy, but still at the height of style. Near the end of the collection Jacobs showed organza dresses that were hand painted – so sheer they looked like puffs of gauzy pastel smoke – and with stunning shearling coats in those same muted pastels. marc-jacobs-fall-2014-5 5. The collection was complete 360 from his collection last season filled with over-the-top embellishments and with a dark mood. Seems like Jacobs is letting us all know he’s in a very happy, calm state of mind. READ MORE: Tonality beauty at Marc Jacobs Fall 2014 NYFW Fall 2014: Marc by Marc Jacobs gets cool again
