Alexa Chung showed up for her International Woolmark Prize judging duties today in a super sweet, thigh-skimming, butterfly-printed Valentino cape. (Doesn’t it make you yearn for spring and the days of bare legs and arms? Side note: It was warm in Milan today, but not THAT warm.) The
Woolmark Prize is a big deal: it kick-started the careers of both Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld. Today’s winner: Rahul Mishra, a designer from India, who crafts hand-embroidered cocktail dresses. He beat out five finalists including Joseph Altuzarra to win the grand prize of $100,000. Best part? When his name was called, Mishra promptly burst into tears. All in all, it was a good day for butterflies—present both in stomachs and on capes.
