Runners-up!
Converse flats have casual sneaker appeal, but in bright-coloured suede and a ballerina style, they're far more fashionable ($90 a pair, 1-800-387-9550, www.converse.com)

Top shop
Just in case you missed the stand-alone boutique on Toronto's Bloor Street, you can now stop in at Holt Renfrew, where Chanel recently opened an in-store shop. It's 167 square metres of handbags, accessories, watches and chic ready-to-wear. The decor features white diamond-dusted panels, as well as furniture and display cases that are modern interpretations of Coco Chanel's own antiques.

The divine Mr. M
Isaac Mizrahi is a design machine. Along with his womenswear line for Target and his couture collection for Bergdorf Goodman -- and a menswear collection due out this fall -- Mizrahi has added Canada's Fairweather (www.fairweather.ca) and Les Ailes de la Mode to his resumé. While each collection is different, they share a unifying concept.

"I get into a mood," says Mizrahi. "I was obsessed with florals this spring and was right into it." (Get more on Mizrahi in Elle Canada's exclusive interview!)

Being Koi
Koi swimwear is made with party girls in mind. Last summer, when Toronto's Jennifer Nadj couldn't find an affordable swimsuit to wear for her visit with her sister in L.A., she decided to make her own line. "It's for the girl on vacation -- whether she's going to South Beach or Mykonos," says Nadj. Think bandeau tops, belted or tie bottoms and slinky, '70s-inspired one-pieces with gold-plated hardware and European spandex with leopard-print lining ($200 and under, www.koiswimwear.com).

Dark arts
Think dark and oversized when it comes to sunglasses this summer. Not only will they look hot, they'll sheild you from the the smouldering gazes of sexy men! Check out this season's shades by Georgio Armani ($340) and Yves Saint Laurent ($330) at eyewear specialists across Canada.
