I think it’s fair to say that Emma Génier is having a moment. The 16-year-old model from Saint George de Beauce, Que started off her debut catwalk season at New York Fashion Week by landing an exclusive with Proenza Schouler. Next stop: Milan where she walked seven shows: Gucci, Etro, Sportmax, Bottega Veneta, Alberta Ferretti, Aquiliano Rimondi and Salvatore Ferragamo. Now, she’s ready to take Paris by storm and she’s going to be sharing her story with ELLE Canada readers. We caught up with Emma as she and her father were about to board the train to Paris. What did she tell us...  polaroid-templateI am leaving Milan feeling charmed by the Italian way of life. I could feel it everywhere I went. Life seemed less hurried (though still chaotic!), as they make time for the simple things. This was my first trip to Europe and I am amazed by the city and the architecture. In my little spare time, I did some sightseeing. I especially enjoyed seeing the famous Duomo, which has brilliant architecture and apparently took 500 years to build. My father came to Milan shortly after I arrived, and he was really proud to see me for the first time on the runway. Imagine, his first time to see me was at Gucci! Since my dad wasn't on the official guest list, the people in charge were letting him come in for example at 12:20 even if the show was scheduled at 12 o'clock. My father wasn't worried about it, because he knew a show always start 30 minutes (ore more) after the scheduled time. I guess this is what they mean by "fashionably late!" So far, Europe has been magical and I am so grateful for what I was able to accomplish in Milan in my first season. There are always up and downs, but I am happy to say that the positive experiences far outweigh the negative. I am leaving Milan feeling like I conquered my first season in the Italian fashion capital! We are now ready and very excited to take the Eurostar train heading to Paris tonight. Our cabin includes 2 little beds so I will be able to sleep to be ready to kick off castings tomorrow for Paris Fashion Week. Stay tuned for more. Arrivederci!
