My skin is so dry! What can I do keep my face and body moisturized?

We turned to Holly Sherrard of the International Dermal Institute to answer this question. Here's her response:

Dry skin can occur from many different influences and the best way to reduce the tight skin with dry flakes is to exfoliate, moisturize and protect. Daily exfoliation with a buffing cloth can increase circulation, reduce flaky skin and encourage new skin cells to produce from the layers below. These new cells contain natural and essential lipids and moisture to repair the exterior barrier function or protection. After exfoliation apply moisturizer to slightly damp skin. The moisturizer should contain emollient ingredients such as Evening Primrose Oil, Shea Butter, hydrating Lactic Acid and a minimum SPF 15. If the dry skin is accompanied by redness, utilize a moisturizer with calming and soothing agents such as Red Raspberry Extract and multivitamins.
