I’m breaking out more this summer — what could be causing this? How should I change my facial cleansing routine for hotter months?

Summer is definitely the time of year to show off gorgeous skin -- especially if it's glowing! But if you're like a lot of ladies this summer and having a bad breakout it can be tough showing off your skin. We asked Toronto dermatologist Dr. Benjamin Barankin for his tips on keeping your skin fresh all summer long.
There are a variety of reasons to break out in the summer, with heat and humidity playing a role, as well as clothing/equipment that may be too occlusive for your pores. I generally recommend a mild cleanser to wash your face with (for example, Cetaphil, Toleriane, Spectrojel), and encourage twice weekly exfoliation with an exfoliative scrub. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion are a nice addition in the summertime to keep your skin glowing and fresh.
