I have had a baby 15 months ago and can't seem to find things that fit right. I have what they call a "muffin top". I am a size 14 and 5'5". What sort of tops and pants should I look for?

When it comes to style and the perfect fit, no one is a better expert than my friend Marlene Shiff at Boutique Le Trou in Toronto. So, I asked her to help out with this question. Here are her suggestions!

Pants
For pants, if you want to wear slim pants, which you can, wear a long top; for fall/winter a long blazer or ¾ coat is good, with a long shirt if possible.

For summer, a tunic that is not too clingy and longer than the bum will work. Also currently available are longer cardigans, good over slim pants and a loose tank or T-shirt.
Find higher-waisted pants, which are starting to be available as they will tuck in the muffin. Wear a bit of a heel or platform when you can, as that always elongates the silhouette.
Also try wide pants, high-waisted. This is also a silhouette now available and even more for fall. With proper undergarments, the muffin should be hidden in high-waisted pants so you can wear any kind of top you feel is complimentary on you.

Tops
As mentioned, tunics (tops that are as long as short dresses) work over slim pants. If you have a small waist, consider belting the tunic. Otherwise don’t belt it but be sure it’s not too full either.

Crisp, slightly fitted shirts are always good. They work well either cropped or tucked with high-waisted wide pants or long and worn over slimmer pants.

To tie it all together, a cropped jacket for the wide pant look and a long lean jacket for the slimmer pant look.

Hope that helps you re-vamp!
