For this fashion dilemma I enlisted my friend who also happens to be a celebrity stylist (and the stylist who got the cast of Canada's Next Top Model Cycle 1 looking so fabulous), Leila Bani
, to give the low-down on office attire and accessories.
Lucky girl, you're petite frame will allow you have lots of fun with the current craze for volume and layers.
You rule in skinny pants and leggings, especially when paired with a boxy, belted tunic. As for accessories, feel free to pile them on to perk up a very simple ensemble. Be sure to tone it down with busier looks. A great way to become more comfortable accessorizing is to wear something basic, like an LBD, and wear one serious "statement piece" like an oversized necklace or artful shoe.
For your work wardrobe, make sure to be mindful of the cut or your clothing. Nothing will date you faster than grandma's suit. Look for blazers with nipped in waists and flat front pants. Avoid hemlines below the knee. Keep it comfy with natural fibers and a touch of lycra. Be careful of too-tight clothing; if you have to squeeze into it you will want to burn it at the end of the day.
