What hues would work best for olive skin, fair skin or dark skin?
I chatted with Mrs. Fashionista herself, Christina McDowell (Image Consultant with Holt Renfrew, Toronto) about her thoughts on the issue! She says there are many variables to consider. For example, your skin tone changes with each season.
"Colour is so subjective -- there are so many variables. I am not a big believer in colour charts that restrict your choices. Our skin tone varies throughout the year -- changing cheek and lip colour as well as different lighting are also factors that determine whether or not we should wear a certain colour."
There are certain colours that are always a challenge -- the yellow family, flat grays and taupes, some greens and the less natural reds. However, there are also many universally flattering colours such as pinks, blues, true reds, white and other strong colors. Stay away from washed out or artificial colours.
