My skin has been breaking out with all these weather changes. Can you recommend a product to get this under control?
Seaonal change can wreak havoc on the appearance of your skin. From dry, chilly winds and indoor heat in the winter to warmer and increased sun exposure and over-perspiration in the summer, these changes may cause adverse reactions. Altering your skincare regimen to go along with the changing seasons will help to keep acne breakouts under control. Dr. Cohen, a dermatologisy in Toronto, suggests the following for this ELLE Canada reader:
"It can be difficult for your skin to adjust to changes in weather, so it's important to alter your skincare regimen with the seasons. Indoor heating and lack of humidity in the winter makes the skin prone to dryness and once summer comes along, sweating and increased sunscreen use can make your skin more prone to acne breakouts. I recommend using a liquid cleanser such as Cetaphil. Since it doesn't contain soap, your skin won't be as irritated and is less likely to dry out. Liquid cleansers maintain the natural pH balance of the skin and keep it looking hydrated and healthy. And as we enter warmer weather, make sure your moisturizer contains SPF to help fight against the harsh effects of the sun. Consider using a moisturizer with SPF 30 during the hotter months and in the winter a combination of moisturizer and sunscreen - even though the winter months are cold, your skin can still be damaged by the sun."
