How important is exfoliating the skin (both face and body)?

Is your skin looking a little dull? maybe you need to exfoliate more. But to find out just how important exfoliation is, we asked Holly Sherrard, Education Manager at The International Dermal Institute® for her advice.

As we age the cell turnover and renewal process slows down.  At the age of 50, it may be taking up to 50 days for our skin cells to migrate to the surface of our skin.  Exfoliation not only removes dead surface cells but also signals the cells below to reproduce therefore pushing newer cells to the surface. Regular exfoliation of the face and body will help remove brown spots, reduce the chance of acne breakouts and reveal newer more hydrated skin.
