We Plot Your Dream V-Day Escape Based on Your Relationship Status
by : Carli Whitwell- Jan 24th, 2018
Your handy guide to planning the perfect trip this Valentine’s Day.
The only person you need to spoil this V Day is yourself.
In a please-don’t-talk-to-me kind of mood?
If your relationship recently took a Fergie-and-Josh turn, take some “you” time at wellness retreat, Renew. This “breakup boot camp,” set on a luxury farm in upstate New York, is designed to heal broken hearts through a combo of therapy, yoga and (our fave) delish organic meals.
Or maybe you’re ready to parrrttyyyyyy!
Boutique property Habitas Tulum has been described as the love child of Kardashian-fave Aman hotels, Club Med, Soho House and Burning Man. Translation: little sleep, lotsa booze and pool time and plenty of mingling both at the hotel (they host chic dinner parties and events like mezcal tastings) and in the boho party town of Tulum, which is just a cab ride away.
If you're planning your own girls' trip to a winter wonderland
Located in Courchevel, a village in France that looks like the inside of a snow globe, the mountain-chic Hôtel Barrière Les Neiges will satisfy both ski and après-ski types in your circle. It's located steps from the slopes — you can even get a catered mountaintop lunch – and has a spa offering Biologique Recherche treatments.
Or maybe your crew prefers the beach scene
How about the presidential villa in the new Park Hyatt St. Kitts? (Hey, we can dream.) The house — which has its own pool, games room and executive chef — is located right on Banana Bay, but we're betting you'll spend 90 percent of your time at the hotel's 3,500-square-metre Miraval spa. Note: In case your money train hasn't come yet, the property's traditional rooms are almost as indulgent.
Things could go either way at this point.
It’s your first weekend away together.
Best keep your travel plans local. Victoria was recently named the most romantic city in Canada. Why not linger over dinner at Little Jumbo (the cocktail list is insane) and then spend the night at the newly renovated Fairmont Express?
Settle down? Never!
The next-gen tour groups (read "no bus trips or super-cheesy guides in sight") are a great way to make new connections. Free People (yes, the clothing brand) offer's FP Escapes — wellness retreats in luxe locations around the globe. Thailand is the first stop in 2018.
You’re long distance.
Why not meet halfway around the world in the Seychelles (honeymoon destination of Wills and Kate, fyi)? The just-opened Six Senses Zil Payson boasts (among many other attractions) private villas with personal butlers so you can spend all day staring into each other’s eyes in your private pool overlooking the Indian Ocean.
This is your time. Enjoy — just keep the PDA to a minimum for the rest of us.
It’s still super-new.
A sure way to find out whether this romance will go the distance: Spend a week in a cozy Airstream camper at AutoCamp, located on a picturesque Russian River north of San Fran. Bonus: There are plenty of luxury amenities (like Casper mattresses and Malin + Goetz bath prods, a clubhouse with local wine and snacks and chilled-out campfires) to distract you if you get sick of each other.
You just reunited with your ex.
If you still need to hash out a few things, the Couples Program at the five-star Puripunn Baby Grand Boutique Hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand, combines counselling with sightseeing.
It's your 10-year anni.
Go big or, um, stay home. We love the new One&One Nyungwe House, located in southwest Rwanda. Explore Nyungwe national Park in the a.m., and when it gets too warm to do anything, retreat to the spa for a couples massage or find other ways to pass the time in your very, very private suite.
