Ol Jogi: The pool

The pondlike swimming pool has its own island and a mix of sunny and wonderfully shady spots, thanks to bombax trees in full bloom, which are also home to a plethora of birds (with a sweet soundtrack). Ol Jogi: The wildlife viewing bunker

This may look like a passageway to a galaxy far, far away, but it's actually a (super cool) underground tunnel to access the property's wildlife viewing bunker. The entrance to the wine cellar is also tucked away behind a hidden panel in the wall.   Set-jetting in Iceland: The other Hollywood North

Ol Jogi: The rhinos

Ol Jogi has been a rhino sanctuary since 1980. Today, it is home to 48 endangered eastern black rhinos and 18 southern white rhinos. The property is surrounded by an electric fence with 16 rhino-proof "wildlife corridors" so that other animals can enter and exit freely. There are not quite 800 of the endangered animals left in Kenya. ELLE Escape: Read more about Ol Jogi

Ol Jogi: The wild African dogs

Several packs of endangered wild African dogs frequent the property. Ol Jogi's Wildlife Rescue Centre is also home to a pack of 10 wild African dogs that were rescued. They are kept with limited human contact so they are ready for release into the wild. But because it is difficult to secure the proper permissions and to find an appropriate area where they will not encroach on the existing territory of another pack, the wait has already been five years. Ol Jogi: The elephants at the Wildlife Rescue Centre

At Ol Jogi's Wildlife Rescue Centre, guests can feed carrots to two rescued elephants that can't be reacclimated to the wild. The rescue centre is also home to a blind black rhino. Last year, the vets there spearheaded an unprecedented international effort to perform cataract surgery to restore the rhino's sight. It was untimately unsuccessful due to the nature of the animal's condition.    Travel Essentials: 15 stylish passport covers
