Westlife have vowed to perform better than Take That and JLS this weekend.

The group – consisting of Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily and Kian Egan – will sing their new song ‘Safe’ on UK TV talent show ‘The X Factor’ on Sunday (14.11.10) and have pledged to make their record company boss Simon Cowell proud.

He said: “We want to make Simon proud. He’s been super-involved in the new album. He wants us to sound the best and look the best on Sunday.”

Mark also said that although he has huge respect for Take That and JLS, the group are treating the show like a soccer match and want to come out on top.

He said: “We love Take That and think JLS are great. We have respect for those boys but Sunday will be like a local derby. We’re all mates off the field but when we get on the pitch, the collars go up and we go into fighting mode.

“But Sunday will be a celebration of boy bands. Four years ago, people were saying the formula was dead and now look at us. Take That are the daddies – they inspired us. And JLS are the new boys, really relevant.”
