Nicola Roberts has to be colour co-ordinated with the stage before she performs.

The Girls Aloud singer – who is set to release her debut solo album ‘Cinderella’s Eyes’ this autumn – admits she is superstitious and always makes sure part of her attire fits with her surroundings before heading on stage to sing.

She told BANG Showbiz: “I always like to colour code my outfit with my stage performance. If you have a look at my nails they’re exactly the same as my microphone.”

Nicola also explained the only drawback of performing at yesterday’s (10.07.11) T4 On The Beach festival in Weston Super Mare, Southern England, was not being able to enjoy a drink in the sunshine before stage time, in the interests of professionalism.

She told BANG Showbiz: “The weather is absolutely gorgeous, it’s really cool. I love these sort of gigs, the atmosphere and all that.

“I am so jealous of everyone else drinking beer and cocktails, I would love a drink before I go on.”

The 25-year-old star recently admitted she was pleased to have “shocked” fans with the personal nature of the lyrics on her solo album.

Nicola said: “People have said that they’ve been shocked that the lyrics are quite personal.

“The albums that I like are the ones where you can relate to something. Take pop music – that’s, like, the outer bubble, the surface, and it floats and it’s good, it’s catchy.

“Then you’ve got the inner bubble, where you can hear the feeling in the song – that’s what I like in a record.”
