Serge Pizzorno says becoming a father has “relaxed” him.

The Kasabian guitarist and his wife Amy welcomed son Ennio into the world last August and the rocker admits it was perfect timing for him, because it helped calm him down after a manic few months with the band.

He said: “He’s relaxed me, completely. I think it came at the perfect time. After the last album (‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’), the madness of making that record and what the band had become.”

Serge was also there at the birth and takes his duties as a father very seriously.

The musician – who is getting ready to release ‘Velociraptor!’, the band’s fourth album – even played his son three of his favourite songs when he was just a few minutes old.

He said: “Luckily I was at the birth. He was born a month premature . We were only in the theatre for 45 minutes in the end. When he was born we were left alone for half an hour and I played him ‘Ecstasy of Gold’, ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’ and ‘Miss You’. They were the first three things he ever heard. Pretty amazing! Just laying there, his eyes closed. I’m a hands-on dad. My Amy is the most incredible woman. There’s no way I’m getting away with not helping out with everything. I love it. I’m just buzzing at the moment.”
