Pink lets her backing musicians “play around” with her songs.

The ‘So What’ hitmaker is less rigid than other superstar singers with the way her backing band play her songs according to guitarist Justin Derrico, who has performed with some of the biggest names in music including Beyonce and Tina Turner.

He told Australia’s Nine to Five magazine: “I get to be myself, as a musician and a person. I’ve worked for some artists who want you to play strictly what’s on the record.

“Sometimes it’s great but sometimes it doesn’t translate, but with Pink – the whole band gets to sort of play around and it becomes a cool musical experience.”

The 29-year-old musician added Pink comes up with lots of musical ideas herself, which makes it “fun” to play for her.

He added: “She’s really cool when it comes to ideas. On the first tour I did, she was the one that came up with the idea of the flamenco music. I came up with my own interpretation of flamenco music and what I could do with it. She lets me take a lot of solos and lets me be myself, which is so much fun.”
