JLS have denied copying Jennifer Lopez’s track ‘On the Floor’.

The pop group’s new single, ‘She Makes me Wanna’, features the line “L.A. to Africa,” which is also used in Jennifer Lopez’ recent hit ‘On the Floor’ – but the band’s Aston Merrygold says even though both tracks were produced by the same person – Redone – the lyrics are entirely coincidental.

Speaking at the grand opening of the London M&M’S World store, in Leicester Square, he said: “It’s so funny, basically, we came up with it ourselves, because they never use Africa in songs, so we did it, then it happened that Redone said, ‘well – I’ve already used that lyric!’”

The boy band – which also includes Marvin Humes, Jonathan ‘JB’ Gill and Oritse Williams – feature female rapper Dev on the track, said they were keen to work with her after she “blew up” in the US when she worked with the Far East Movement and Kanye West.

Marvin explained to BANG Showbiz: “We wanted a female rapper, and Dev was suggested. She is very, very hot right now, so, it made sense for us to get her in really.

“She has totally blown up in the States right now, she has just done a song with Kanye West, and obviously ‘Like a G6’ was massive last year. She is a massive, massive talent out there.”

The group also performed at the opening celebration ceremony of the four floor M&M’S World store, which was initiated today (06.07.11) by Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
