Jessie J not a 'dummy'

Jessie J thinks a lot of artists are "dummies".

The 'Price Tag' hitmaker is proud of the fact she writes her own songs and that she got her break penning tracks for other people - including writing Miley Cyrus' huge hit 'Party in the USA' - rather than having a manager guiding her.

Jessie told Scotsman.com: "There are lots of artists out there who are just dummies, getting dressed by management, being told what to say and sing and wear, but I'm really proud of the fact that I write songs and pitched one to Britney. She might not have used it, but I'll just write a better one."

Jessie, 23, is modest about her abilities as a songwriter, and insists she is puts being a performer and artist foremost.

She added: "I'm reluctant to call myself a songwriter. It's kind of come across in my interviews like that's my main thing and being an artist is second, but that's not it at all."

The singer - who has had three top ten one hits in the UK - also said she didn't' realise all of the other roles she would have to take on as well as performing and writing songs when she became a pop star.

She added: "It's a bit like taking on ten more jobs at the moment. I wanted to be a singer, but now I've had to become a model, a spokesperson, a good interviewee - everything."
