I've never heard a red-carpet crowd collectively gasp – until yesterday when Elle Fanning floated down King Street at the TIFF premiere of Mary Shelley.
The 19-year-old star looked enchanting in a blush lace Alexander McQueen gown and Tiffany & Co. jewelry, her signature blonde hair framing her rosy cheeks just so. Fanning plays the titular Mary Shelley in the empowering biopic directed by Haifaa Al Mansour (Saudia Arabia’s first female filmmaker). “Mary Shelley did not conform to traditional conventions set for women. She was her own self, and it is amazing to celebrate her and the kind of women that she represents,” Al Mansour told us on the red carpet. “It is important now more than ever to celebrate women who are doing things that are not expected of us.”
George Clooney was also in town Saturday for the premiere of the satire Suburbicon, which he directed. (It stars Julianne Moore and Matt Damon. This was arguably the most popular red carpet of the weekend as we were all hoping that Amal would make an appearance like she did in Venice.

Sadly, she was MIA (no doubt chilling with the twins) but we got to hang with George and Nicole Kidman later in the night. Full story here.
