4 delicious summer cocktails you need to try

We tapped some of Canada’s coolest mixologists for the best drink they’ll be serving their customers this summer – and made sure to grab the recipe so you can make it at home (you’re welcome). These sippers are perfect for any lounging situation – patio, pool or beach-side!

ELLE cocktail: Lemon Raspberry Caipirinha

Malibu Lemon Mojito

Sweet but not sickly, this drink made lead mixologist Ed Grim’s summer menu at Toronto’s Oliver and Bonacini Café Grill.

What’s in it:

1.5oz Malibu Rum
Fresh lime
Crushed watermelon
Mint
Cane syrup
Soda water

How to make it:
Shake 1.5oz Malibu Rum with fresh lime, crushed watermelon, mint & cane syrup. Strain into a glass with fresh ice, top with soda, mint leaves and cubed watermelon.

This refreshing drink created by mixologist Nishan Nepulangoda, and can be sipped at Toronto resto LS.

ELLE cocktail: The Shotgun Wedding

What’s in it:
1 3/4 Bombay Sapphire East gin
1/4 green chartreuse
2oz lime juice
1/4oz calamansi juice
1.5oz lemongrass syrup
2oz Perrier
3 slices of cucumber

How to make it:
Muddle cucumber into shaker. Add all other ingredients aside from chartreuse and Perrier. Shake then double strain into a high-ball glass with fresh ice. Float with chartreuse, top with Perrier. Garnish with sliced cucumber.

This Mexican-inspired drink is the brainchild of Jay Meyers, lead mixologist at Hudson Kitchen in Toronto.

ELLE cocktail: La Condesa

What's in it:
1oz Tromba Tequila
1oz Leyenda Tlecuache Mezcal (or something else with smoke on it)
8 drops Bitter End's Memphis BBQ bitters
2 barspoons agave nectar
Orange zest

How to make it:
Squeeze the orange zest to release oils in to old fashioned or rocks glass. Rub remaining oils from zest on to the rim. Drop zest in glass. Add agave nectar and bitters. Add 1/2oz each of the tequila and mezcal. Stir to mix. Add lots of ice, stir again Add remaining tequila and mezcal, top with ice if necessary.
