GREENBACKS: Business tycoons have been anteing up vast fortunes for the environmental cause. Richard Branson has pledged $3 billion to renewable energy initiatives over the next 10 years. Real-estate millionaire Steve Bing has committed US$40 million to clean, renewable energy, and Barbara Streisand has pledged $1 million from the proceeds of her upcoming concert tour to the Clinton Climate Initiative (www.clintonglobalinitiative.org).

* Model Angela Lindvall's Collage Foundation throws substantial parties to promote green lifestyle choices. Its Fall Fashion Week bash in New York with Organic Style magazine has Lindvall showing off her eco-friendly houseboat (www.collagefoundation.org).
* United in a new campaign called Save Our Selves (SOS), musicians like Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kelly Clarkson, Bon Jovi and Lenny Kravitz are just some of the artists confirmed for the Live Earth concerts. Organized by SOS, which is chaired by Al Gore, the seven concerts are slated to take place on July 7 on all seven continents. The proceeds will go toward the creation of a new climate-change foundation, led by Alliance For Climate Protection (www.liveearth.msn.com).
* In a cultured bid to promote environmental awareness, David de Rothschild (son of Sir Evelyn de Rothschild and Victoria Schott) opened The Gallery @ Adventure Ecology HQ art gallery in London. Until July 15, the exhibition Wastelands features artists who celebrate nature through their use of materials.
