There’s no wedding in the cards for Ed Sheeran—at least not yet. 

The “Shape of You” singer has been spotted wearing a ring on the finger over the last week, including at last night’s Brit Awards. Naturally, the entire planet assumed he had gotten married. 

But it turns out it’s actually an engagement ring, Sheeran told The Sun. And there’s a ballad-worthy story behind it: the Grammy-winner’s fiancée, Cherry Seaborn, made the ring out of silver clay herself.

“I never saw why men didn’t wear engagement rings,” said Sheeran. “It’s the same commitment either way.” 

The couple, who have known each other since high school, announced their engagement in January.
