TV show to look forward to in 2013: Game of Thrones

When you talk to any true
Game of Thrones nerd—myself included, I
devoured the books—you will notice one common denominator: the fervent reverie by which everyone refers to the third installment of the epic series. As soon as the topic of conversation turns to Book Three, most George R.R. Martin fans will wipe a single tear from their eye, put their hand over their heart, and take a moment of silence to just remember it.
It’s that good. Two more months until the season premiere then we can all talk about it in exhaustive detail. Hurray!

TV show to look forward to in 2013: Arrested Development Admittedly, the new season of cult-hit
Arrested Development has the potential to break a lot of hearts. Here’s why: It’s either going to be hilarious, and capture all of the Bluth family magic—or it’s going to be awful, like the
Sex and the City movies (Please, please don’t let it be awful!) Season 4 is set to appear on Netflix in May.

TV show to look forward to in 2013: Veep

Here’s the good news—if you haven’t watched HBO’s political comedy
Veep, there’s still plenty of time to catch up on season 1 before it’s sophomore season debuts in April. We’re not sure why this quirky little show hasn’t gotten more love from the critics—it has all the elements of success: A borderline incompetent main character—the hilarious Julia Louis Dreyfus, as the Vice President of the United States, who stumbles from one PR disaster to the next—not to mention a talented cast that includes Tony Hale [
Arrested Development’s Buster Bluth], and, for all you ’90s kids out there, Anna Chlumsky, who probably made you cry your eyes out in
My Girl back in the day.

In Hollywood, when a film sucks, studios push back the release date until they can reshoot key scenes and test audience reactions in private screenings. So, when we found out that Baz Luhrman’s The Great Gatsby had been moved from its original December release date to a summer slot—we took it as a very bad sign. Even if the movie is awful—which we really hope it isn’t—here’s the plus side: Leonardo DiCaprio hasn’t looked this dreamy since his Titanic days. That has to count for something, right?

Movie to look forward to in 2013: This is the End
Call it the return of the Dream Team: Not only is This is the End written by Superbad scribes Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, but it reunites the cast of Freaks & Geeks in a pretty amazing way. We can’t wait for to see Jason Segel, James Franco and Seth Rogen share a screen again (playing themselves, facing the apocalypse, no less!). And just in case you aren’t sold yet, the rest of the cast is stellar as well: think Emma Watson, Aziz Ansari, Mindy Kaling, Paul Rudd, Michael Cera and Rihanna. We can’t wait.
