ELLE asked a top Toronto DJ to select 11 songs for 11 nights of TIFF madness.

Welcome to ELLECanada.com’s official TIFF journal! This festival, Laura deCarufel and Jennifer Lee, the co-editors of
Hardly magazine
, have the high honour of reporting from TIFF’s coolest events. Stay tuned for party coverage, red carpet style, and behind-the-scenes scoop! At this point in the festival—five days left!—even the most dedicated cinephile and partygoer could be forgiven for looking longingly at the couch, instead of at the cocktail list at the Four Seasons. We have just the thing to put the bounce back in your step! Odario Williams, a DJ and member of
Grand Analog, is spending TIFF spinning up to three parties a night. Highlights of his dance card so far? The Aveda/FILLER party for
Julia’s E yes (the Guillermo del Toro-produced Spanish film), and the
Passion Play party at Buca, in which Bill Murray got up to shake it on the dancefloor. (Read on to find out which track got him into the groove.) And the playlist begins…
TRACK 1 "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" by the
INCREDIBLE BONGO BAND
Why "A perfect party starter for any occasion. The Incredible Bongo Band’s bongo solos and guitars are infectious and funky." ___________________________________________________________
TRACK 2 "Tightrope" by
JANELLE MONAE
Why "I’m a big fan of the classic throwback tune. Monae’s flow channels a young James Brown over a groove that makes you want to cut-a-rug or shake a tail-feather." ___________________________________________________________
TRACK 3 "What’s Going On" (Beatnick & K-Salaam Remix) by
MARVIN GAYE
Why "My favourite voice in music, period. I’ll always find a way to include Marvin into my DJ mixes. This remix is sure to put one nation under a groove." ___________________________________________________________
TRACK 4 "Valerie" (Mark Ronson version) by
AMY WINEHOUSE
Why "Say what you want about Amy Winehouse. When her extremely soulful voice channels through the speakers you easily forget your problems…and hers." ___________________________________________________________
TRACK 5 "OMG" by
USHER
Why "Out go the Black Eyed Peas, in comes Usher (once again). This is arguably the summer song of 2010. Not only did ‘OMG’ fill up a dance floor instantaneously, it even had Bill Murray tapping his feet and bobbing his head to this catchy beat."
The next six tracks are after the jump!
