Clapping her hands to a new beat

By Benjamin MacDonald
It seems that Australian born Sia Furler’s love affair with JD Samson (of Le Tigre) has given birth to her inner pop starlet. Her fifth studio release, We Are Born (genius production by Greg Kurstin) is an engaging string of disco and funk-infused pop tunes… a fresh new approach for the haunting signature vocals of Zero 7. While there are a couple of down-tempo tracks (Be Good To Me, I’m In Here and an eclectic cover of Madonna’s 1989 single "Oh Father") the album is pure pop gold full of playful, bouncy beats. Latest single, Clap Your Hands is must-add to your summer playlist.
