Real Jersey boys Bon Jovi rocked a full house at Rogers Centre last night

Halfway through last night’s Bon Jovi concert, frontman pretty boy Jon Bon himself placed his hand over his heart and looked out into the audience- a generational montage of females with 80s-inspired hairstyles (real or not, I’ll never know) and with his trademark megawatt smile, said he was “taking it all in.” What exactly? The 48-year old rocker with big blue eyes and even bigger hair confessed that in the 26 years he’s rocked sold-out shows in the T. dot he’s always wanted to play the biggest venue in the city- the Rogers Centre. (“A long way from the El Mocambo,” he declares, the dive-y Spadina bar where the band played in their early days.)
Strutting across stage with his oh-so tight pants, you’d never know the singer tore a calf muscle at a concert in his home state of New Jersey just two weeks ago (he played on too, in case you were wondering.) Clocking in around two and a half hours of booty shaking (oh yes,) anthemic crowd singalongs and even a duet with Kid Rock who opened the show earlier on, the night flew by and I have the pics and a strained voice as trademark souvenirs (Side note: This was my 8th concert, I add-proudly.) I’ve shamelessly parlayed the lowdown of last night’s show to most of ELLE editors and colleagues here (every account including the must-know details of his tight pants and killer smile.) Yet while I was hanging out with Jon and the boys last night (well me and 40,000 other screaming fans) the lovely ELLE Canada team was out celebrating the close of our September issue- our biggest issue of the year! It’s been a busy past few months getting this issue out and though I missed last night’s party (and the accompanying Italian food) I couldn’t be more excited for this issue to drop. Seeing Jon helped me celebrate. I’m interested to hear how night deux goes tonight, so please fill me in with your updates later! That said, anyone going tonight who wants to bring along a diehard Bon Jovi ELLE intern? I’m available, just saying.
