Grey’s Anatomy since it first started airing in 2005. In that time, I’ve finished university, gotten married, pregnant, and landed a wicked job in my chosen field. Also in that time, the doctors at Seattle Grace hospital have been through a mass shooting, a plane crash, a bomb scare and a sinkhole. One of the doctors was even eaten by wild dogs. (I’m not kidding). And yet, still I tune in every Thursday night, if only to yell at my TV. I’m not sure where I first heard the term "Investment television" but I’m pretty sure that’s the diagnosis for my terminal
Grey’s addiction. Investment television is when you spend so much time locked into a specific series, you keep watching it even after it’s jumped the shark. It happened to me with
Lost (Hey, Damon Lindeloff, I’m still mad at you about the finale). It’s going on right now with
The Walking Dead. (Two whole episodes devoted to the Governor? Come on guys, you’re better than that. And don’t even get me started about that season devoted to searching for Sofia.) What’s your Investment TV show?
