Can you spot the succulents in this bouquet by Midge Flower Designs

The weekend might be for unwinding, but we think Monday morning is the perfect time to stop and smell the roses — the peach garden roses, that is.
Spring has arrived yet again at the ELLE Canada offices, this time in a concrete vase, for today’s instalment of #FlowerMonday. Created by Midge Flower Designs — its Leslieville-based studio known to curate some of Toronto’s trendiest blooms — peach garden roses were paired with blush peonies, succulents, anemones and ranunculus for an arrangement inspired by contrasting elements, said owner Maija Reisenauer. “My inspiration was a look that I am extremely fond of right now: Soft and bold! I like my flowers pretty, but a little rough around the edges…kind of like me.” Reisenauer, who, with 10 years of flower design under her belt, knows a thing or two about beating blues with fresh florals, says it’s all about sprucing up for spring with succulents. “They are so hot right now. They are a huge trend in floral arrangements as well as for weddings,” she said. “I love them and am thrilled when a bride wants to use them.” Aside from weddings, special events and daily deliveries, Reisenauer holds regular floral workshops. Her most recent are centred around spring wildflower arrangements, and give participants free rein of their imaginations so that they too can create their own #FlowerMonday magic. “I have always been captivated by the diversity of the floral world,” said Reisenauer, adding her own life is a reflection of her fascination with flowers (her cats are named Pistil and Petal, respectively). “You can’t help but get mesmerized by the stunning creations that nature allows you to work with.”
