After shopping for the perfect gift for everyone on your list, finding the prettiest New Year's Eve dress and wrapping up last minute details at work, planning a holiday soirée can be S-T-R-E-S-S-F-U-L. Fortunately, celebrity host and best-selling author Ross Mathews has the ultimate tips for triumphantly hosting (and surviving) every holiday party in your calendar this year. What are your secrets to hosting a stress-free holiday party? "Plan ahead! When it comes to entertaining, don't leave everything until the last minute – do as much as possible beforehand so you’re not running around like a Real Housewife without a cocktail when your guests start to arrive." What are your tips to being the perfect holiday party host? "Like most events, throwing a successful holiday party is all about making sure your guests have food and drink in hand. Why should you spend the whole party working? Instead, keep it simple. Rather than having a variety of drinks, serve a holiday punch in a big bowl that everyone can enjoy. One of my favourite stores, Target, has the cutest red stoneware drink dispenser with a chalkboard and matching steins so you can label whatever beverage is inside. Cheers!" Try to think of something really personal but useful. Since most of your friends will probably show up with a bottle of wine, why not stand out with something unique? A gift certificate for a massage, manicure, pedicure or facial is sure to relax any host this season. For a more personal touch, create your own spa kit with a curated selection of beauty products you know your host will love." What are your tips to surviving the office holiday party? "Keep it classy, kids! You’re surrounded by the bosses so try not to be a hot mess. If your holiday parties are like any I’ve been to, it will likely be a long night, so wear something comfortable. It might get hot into the later hours of the night so wear layers that you can easily remove for a more casual look." How can you be the perfect date during the holidays?
"If there’s one time to be romantic, it’s the holidays. I’m talking about handmade cards, home-cooked dinners and making sure your date is happy and not feeling out of place at your  holiday party." What are your secrets to surviving your family holiday party? "The holidays inevitably mean awkward run-ins with family you only see once a year, so it’s important to come prepared. That means a few funny stories on hand and an exit strategy when things get a little drawn out in your chat with that second aunt or cousin once removed." What is your advice to enjoying a holiday party with your in-laws? "My best advice is to just be yourself! The holidays are an opportunity to spend time with loved ones and to get to know one another, so you want to make sure that you're comfortable and confident going into those situations. Let them know the real you." OVER TO YOU! What is your secret to surviving the holidays?
