4 must see Canadian films at the Whistler Film Fest 2014

There are some pretty high profile films screening at this year’s festival (like Benedict Cumberbatch vehicle The Imitation Game and Still Alice starring Julianne Moore) but you would be remiss if you attended the Whistler Film Festival without taking in some of the great Canadian talent it takes pride in showcasing. After the Ball
Take the basic premise of Cinderella, set it at a glossy magazine and you have this fun, frothy and fairy tale directed by Sean Garrity (of My Awkward Sexual Adventure fame).

Bang Bang Baby
This musical set in the 1960’s is equal parts Hairspray and Erin Brockovitch: It’s a about a teen with big dreams living in a tiny town with a nasty chemical secret.

Back Country
What better time to watch a gripping horror movie about a violent bear attack than while surrounded by all the untamed wilderness of Whistler?

TRAVEL: A weekend in Whistler

A French Canadian Girl
A quirky French language (with subtitles) short about what happens when a Torontonian man tries to help a Montrealaise find her lost laundry. (Spoiler: he falls hard.)
