Daily buzz: Chloe comme Parris changes name to Beaufille

by

Snapshot 2013 04 18 10 16 37 Daily buzz: Chloe comme Parris changes name to Beaufille

By Sarah Thompson

The name Chloe comme Parris is no more! Chloe and Parris Gordon – founders of the Toronto-based fashion line Chloe comme Parris – have changed the brand’s name to Beaufille. The new name marks a transition for the women’s wear and accessories line as it prepares for an international launch. Beaufille – meaning “handsome girl” – reflects the brand’s “sophisticated tough girl” look that is created through historical designs with a contemporary twist. With its worldwide appeal, Chloe and Parris believe that their brand no longer required their names attached, shifting the focus to the women who purchase their androgynous clothing and jewellery pieces. If you’re the type of girl who appreciates finely crafted outfits infused with French culture, intricate detailing and a touch of masculinity, be on the lookout for the revamped Beaufille line! Toronto Fashion Week Fall 2013: In love with Pink Tartan

by

F13Banner TFW 16 Toronto Fashion Week Fall 2013: In love with Pink Tartan

IMG 2596 1024x1024 Toronto Fashion Week Fall 2013: In love with Pink Tartan

I loved the dark glamour of Pink Tartan’s Fall 2013 collection, all elbow-length gloves, sexy, saturated hues and abstract florals. Before the show, I chatted with designer Kim Newport-Mimran about her sultry vision for fall.

THE MUSE

“I always pick a muse for every collection, and for fall, my muse was Constance Langdon from American Horror Story mixed in with Marnie Edgar from Hitchcock days. The darkness is in the clothes, but it’s also underlying in the girl, the muse herself. ”

THE CLOTHES

“I’m still liking a longer skirt length. I love a waisted jacket—I haven’t really been blazer-y for awhile, you’ll see a lot of cape action happening. Those are the key silhouettes. I’m using real camel hair, metallics, a little bit of a PJ silhouette.  I really put an emphasis on fur this season. I love the sophistication of it—it’s a lot of glamorous than my rock star fur from previous seasons.”

First, the buzz.  Tanya Taylor launched her eponymous line in 2011, and it’s already carried at Holt Renfrew. She’s been featured as “a designer to watch”  in InStyle, the New York Times and Lucky.

Last Thursday, Taylor showed her Fall 2013 line as part of The ShOws lineup in Toronto, and backed up all the hype with a lovely collection of beautifully cut coats and sophisticated pattern play. My favourite looks? The above dress and the below coat. A designer to watch, indeed.

Coral draping at Rachel Sin. The designer showed a clean, ladylike collection featuring peplums, tailored blazers and leggings with lace inserts, but it was this LCD that really caught my eye.

Here is my Instagram Diary from Day 3 of Toronto Fashion Week:

The finale gown at the Lucian Matis show was so cool—a massive, leather number with a deep v down the front and peplum detailing. I’m not sure how anyone would actually ever be able to wear it (could you sit down? Would it make you sweat?) but it was fun to look at nonetheless.
