Bad news, boys: the gorgeous Keira Knightly is now a married woman! On Saturday May 4th, Knightley married Klaxons musician James Righton, who put a ring on it in May last year. The couple has been together for over two years, having met through mutual friend Alexa Chung. Knightley and Righton wed in the South of France over the weekend; Knightley wore a pale pink, strapless, knee-length tulle dress paired with a white Chanel jacket and ballet pumps. The soft look was topped with a garland of flowers worn on her loose hair. The wedding was a small event, with only 11 guests attending the town hall ceremony near Marseilles. The ceremony was followed by a larger reception in a garden marquee at Knightley’s mother’s holiday home.  [Vogue UK]

Stars always bring their fashion A-game to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where celebrities and political heavyweights mix in Washington D.C. every year. It’s a night for chic, demure ensembles – celebs who regularly dress for shock value tone it down and class it up for this foray into the political sphere. So we’re always excited to catch this particular red carpet’s fashion hits and misses. This year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which took place Saturday night, didn’t disappoint – after all, belle of the ball Michelle Obama showed up wearing a shimmering black Monique Lhuillier gown! Solange11 MFW Diary: 360 degrees* of Solange Knowles at Just Cavalli

*Almost!

So far,  celeb spottings have been few and far between in Milan. Charlotte Casiraghi sat front row at Gucci, Lady Mary Charteris—one of our recently crowned next It girls—attended both Emporio Armani and Moschino, and this morning, Azealia Banks and Solange Knowles caused a sensation at Just Cavalli. In the name of fashion journalism, I tried to get a decent shot and….well, see for yourself!

Hoc Docs fashion film must-see: The spotlight still shines on modelling legends

About Face Hoc Docs fashion film must see: The spotlight still shines on modelling legends

About Face director Timothy Greenfield-Sanders between models Beverly Johnson (left) and Cheryl Tiegs (right)

Her Sports Illustrated covers and editorial spreads flash across the screen and it’s as if supermodel Paulina Porizkova is finally seeing what the rest of the world has been looking at for the decades that she’s been a star in the fashion and beauty biz.  “I should have been naked all the time!” Porizkova, now 47, tells the camera, blue eyes wide and rapturous.

Porizkova’s epiphany comes courtesy of About Face: The Supermodels, Then and Now, a documentary screening this week as part of Toronto’s Hot Docs festival. The doc’s director is Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, the famed American photographer, who displays his adeptness at teasing out aha! moments about aging gracefully from some of the world’s most iconic faces.

And it turns out they have a lot to say. The doc’s subjects—from Carmen Dell’Orefice and China Machado to Beverly Johnson and Christy Turlington— are fiercely critical and hyper-aware of the modelling world and their fleeting place in it.

New York Fashion Week: More celebrity moments

by

Diane Von Furstenberg, watch out for Michael Kors! With his runway show on Wednesday, he might just have taken the lead in the race for the most star-studded runway show at New York’s fall/winter 2012-2013 Fashion Week.

From the moment I entered the Theatre at Lincoln Center where the Michael Kors show was staged, I could tell something was different. The runway was so clogged with camera crews—even more so than usual—that I could hardly move. Side-stepping my way slowly forward, I was making gradual progress until a tall, raven-haired lady darted in front of me. She wasn’t mean about it, she was just on a very determined mission. “Hello, darling! How ARE you?” she cooed. “So good to see you…” another woman replied as she smiled and reached her hand out. Wait. That’s not just any hand. It’s Anna Wintour’s hand…and she’s seated beside Grace Coddington (love those fiery red locks!)…and the raven-haired woman is Anjelica Huston! And I am in the middle of their conversation. Move. MOVE! Side-step. Side-step! (And yes, Anna Wintour does smile.)

It was even more difficult to leave the theatre post-show as Jessica Alba and Debra Messing (surrounded by ample security) made their way backstage to check out the collection’s fluffy furs and sparkly red-carpet-ready gowns in crimson, black and silver. Meanwhile, Stacy Keibler happily did TV interviews. Katie Couric, Paula Patton, Amber Heard, Patti Hansen and Alexandra Richards were just a few more of the bold-faced names on the scene. Just another day at the office for Michael Kors…

Later in the day, Anthony had a celeb moment of his own at Reed Krackoff—following a noticeable lack of one at Marchesa. Here’s Anthony’s take:

“As I arrived at the Plaza Hotel for the Marchesa show, all I could see were shiny black sedans, a paparazzi mob and a bright red carpet snaking up the stairs. Is this going to by MY red carpet moment, I wondered? Unfortunately, there were no celebs around as I made my entrance—meaning no roar of clicking shutters or blinding lights. (I’m sure I heard three or four clicks…) Still, it was a lot of fun to actually walk a red carpet. Inside, the clothes were a dreamy mix of hand- embroidered threadwork and gilded accents combined with beaded tulles, lace, taffetas and laser-cut leathers. No wonder there was a red carpet out front.”

“Before the Reed Krackoff show started (his runway featured a sleek assortment of the week’s top trends—statement coats, collaged chiffons and top-to-toe monochromatic dressing) I finally racked up a few more camera clicks. Julianne Moore was having her picture taken in front of my seat when our eyes met. ‘Honey, you are standing in my light,’ I casually joked. Not missing a beat, she gave me a wink and a smile and continued posing for the cameras.”

New York Fashion Week: Memorable celebrity moments

by

Here are a few of our most memorable celeb moments—so far—from the New York Fashion Week trenches.

Zac Posen RF12 2730 681x1024 New York Fashion Week: Memorable celebrity moments

One of the last looks from Zac Posen's Fall/Winter 2012-13 collection.

Before we could check out all the Canadian models at the Zac Posen show—Coco Rocha opened and closed, with appearances from Anais Pouliot, Lisa Winkler, Herieth Paul, Alana Zimmer and Heather Marks—Anthony had a close encounter of the Dita (and Anna) kind. “You won’t believe what just happened!” Anthony gushed almost breathlessly to me before the start of the show. While coming down the steps of the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Centre, he literally bumped into Dita Von Teese as she attempted to climb the stairs in a very fitted dress (Zac Posen, of course). Thankfully, no one took a tumble. “She could hardly move, but she looked great. Her makeup was impeccable,” he said. “Then, just as I was coming back to my seat, I suddenly felt like I was being surrounded by men in suits talking into their wrists. Then Anna Wintour appeared in front of me! I felt so disoriented. I don’t know if I can take all the drama!” he said with a laugh. We settled in for an Oriental-architectural themed show full of glamorous hourglass gowns thankful that most (see below) of the celebs were seated a safe distance away. Read the rest of this entry

Fall hairstyle trend: The middle or side part?

by
middle parts Fall hairstyle trend: The middle or side part?

DAVE M. BENETT/GETTY IMAGES

Ok, I was about to jump on the deep side part bandwagon this fall since it was huge hit on the runways (we saw it at Gucci, Marni, Chanel). But then all of a sudden Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz are spotted together sporting dead centre parts. Now I’m back on the middle part wagon for this fall hairstyle trend – at least for the moment.

Most of the summer I went with whatever my hair wanted to do naturally, which was usually a slight, messy side part. But for the more structured fall hairstyle trend, I’m ready to start make my parts more defined. I’m totally envious of Gwyneth’s straight-down-the-middle part and super glossy, straight hair (well, I have major hair envy when it comes to Gywn’s locks pretty much all the time). But I also loved Cameron’s more relaxed style with the slightest wave. Btw, who else is loving the golden hue of blonde she’s now wearing? Read the rest of this entry

Could ‘Sex and the City’ be coming back to TV?

by

Rumour has it, ‘Sex and the City‘ could return to TV screens.

The hit TV series – which ended in 2004 after six series before being turned into two movies – is being lined up for a new run after creator Darren Star and the show’s main star Sarah Jessica Parker decided on the direction it should take.

A source told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Ultimately Darren Star – the man who created the hit series – will have the overall say, but everyone is agreed a TV show is the direction they want to take the franchise in.

Sarah Jessica Parker will be producing. She was worried about doing another film after the bad reaction to the ‘Sex and the City 2′ movie, but a TV show is definitely something she wants to happen.” Read the rest of this entry
