Gwen Stefani is teaming up with Target to create an affordable range of clothes for babies, children and young teenagers.

The No Doubt singer – who already has her own fashion range L.A.M.B. – will work on the collection, entitled Harajuku Mini, with the budget store, which will be a spin-off of her successful Harajuku Lovers young contemporary apparel and accessories collection and Harajuku Lovers fragrance.

She told WWD: “Harajuku Mini is a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to do a cool children’s fashion line inspired by the supercute and playful kid’s clothing you find in Japan. The whole idea is about being creative, expressing your own individuality and having fun getting dressed. Target has given me the creative freedom to design kid’s clothing that is different than most anything you usually see out there with great quality, attention to detail and most of all, available at amazing prices.” Read the rest of this entry

Tamara Mellon and Sarah Jessica Parker leave Halston

Tamara Mellon has joined Sarah Jessica Parker, Harvey Weinstein and Marios Schwab in leaving the fashion label Halston.

Tamara Mellon has split from fashion house Halston.

The Jimmy Choo founder’s departure from the iconic label follows after designer Marios Schwab, president and chief creative officer Sarah Jessica Parker and investor Harvey Weinstein – who Tamara brought to the company – ended their associations with the label.

After Mario’s departure was revealed – when he was told his contract will not be renewed – sources claimed the label will not produce a collection for spring/summer 2012 while this year’s fall/winter collection may not be completed despite being bought by a number of department stores worldwide.

Although he spoke of his excitement at joining the brand in 2009, Mario has previously admitted he faced a huge challenge to push its aesthetic forward.

He commented: “Of course I feel the pressure. It’s a huge challenge but fashion at the moment needs innovation. I would be hesitant to do just one thing – it’s important to be able to create and be open-minded.

“For me, the brand is very well known for the women it dressed – Bianca Jagger was a Halstonette – capturing a decadence and glamour. I want to embrace this. But paying homage is one thing but you need to bring it to the future.”

What celebrity do you think should replace Sarah Jessica Parker at the label, if anyone?
