There was something so utterly refreshing about last night’s red carpet at the SAG Awards. Maybe it was the unexpected pops of neon hues, from fuchsia to orange, or the crop of new, fresh faces like Hailee Steinfeld and Jennifer Lawrence. Whatever the case, this red carpet was one of the best we’ve seen in a long time.
We adored Juliana Marguiles’ crimson YSL…

almost as much as we oohed and aahed over Lea Michele’s sparkly Oscar de la Renta number.

And who could forget screen siren Christina Hendricks in Nicole Kidman’s designer-of-the-moment, L’Wren Scott? That hair, those eyes, that cleavage…

Admittedly we’re not into gossip so much, but when this wire came in from ELLE International we took the bait.
First up, Justin Bieber topless. There is something very wrong about oogling an 18-year-old pop star, isn’t there?
Next, the Twilight franchise was nominated for 9 Razzie awards, including worst actor noms for both Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Have you seen any of the films? Do you think they deserve the criticisms?
Last, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan have reportedly been offered $600,000 each to duke it out in the boxing ring. “The Battle of the Bad Girls of Hollywood” is the purported angle for this twisted attempt at banking on less-than-favourable celebs. Would you watch it?

From Vogue UK to our friends at FLARE, everyone is putting in their two-cents on what wedding dress Kate Middleton should wear on her big (read: very big) day.
Britain’s own Jenny Packman has been added to the burgeoning list, as has the illustrious house of Givenchy. Not surprising, Kate seems to have her pick (with the exception of this designer who has already confirmed she’s not in the game).
So, instead of joining this repartee – however lovely it is – we thought we’d do something a bit different: Our editors have come back from all the spring 2011 shows and, with the help of their Trend Report, we’re imagining Kate’s suitcases filled with these gorgeous looks.

Two things I love right now:
1. Nail polish (if you’ve read even a few of my posts, you know I am a fanatic).
2. The. Royal. Wedding. I am obsessed, truly obsessed.

I almost jumped out of my chair and shouted with glee when I saw a smattering of posts about this on the web. Get ready for it … butter LONDON is releasing a new shade dedicated to soon-to-be-princess Kate Middleton dubbed “No More Waity, Katie”. Even if you’re not a Kate Middleton follower like me, any beauty lover can still appreciate a great new nail lacquer shade. They based it off of Kate’s nickname in the British press (Waity, Katie) before William finally popped the question. And it’s the perfect taupey-grey shade with a hint of glitter. Sophisticated, yet on trend. Read the rest of this entry

Can they get away with it?

I was dipping into our celebrity photo archives this morning to work on this slideshow and I stumbled across a somewhat surprising image of Michael Bublé. Clearly the paparazzi caught him on vacay on what we can only imagine is a private yacht (Ah, the life of celebrity.)
Anyhow, I think the picture warrants an interesting dialogue: Take a look at his image, take a really good look. He’s looking a little loose, right? Maybe one too many poolside Pina Coladas? It begs the question: Read the rest of this entry

Skiing is an obvious reason to hit this New England state, but did you know there are many other reasons to visit this picturesque town? You don’t need to be a resident ski bunny to enjoy Stowe (take it from a ski novice like me who spent the holidays there). Here are our top 5 reasons to visit.
1. Think beyond skiing
Yes, Stowe has some of the best downhill skiing stateside, but you can also challenge yourself with snowboarding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Or try out skating, sledding or just taking a quiet gondola ride to the top of Mount Mansfield to enjoy the views.
2. Hiking
Pretty much anytime of year you can strap on your hiking boots and take a trek through the hills and mountains — it’s another way to take advantage of the mountains with out hitting the slopes.
3. The hotels
There’s everything here from quaint B&Bs to full-blown resorts and lodges — some are geared to those who live to ski and some to those who just want to chill and relax. Our top two picks? Stowe Mountain Lodge at the base of Mount Mansfield, for those who want to hit the slopes it’s right at your door and the spacious rooms come with fireplaces. And the Trapp Family Lodge — a cozy hotel perched at the top of a mountain with stunning views. Best of all? It gets its charm from its owners — none other than the Von Trapp family featured in the classic The Sound of Music. Read the rest of this entry
