TFW Fall 2016: Malorie Urbanovitch

Rita's take: "This collection was inspired by Star Wars. What really caught my eye was the accessories. [Malorie] had this beautiful hunter green stone, with a delicate gold [band]. I decided to go with that – I did a hunter green nail [using Stylenomics polish] with a gold halo [using Good As Gold] around the cuticle and the side walls of the nails. We didn't do it on the tip, and the line was very, very thin. You shouldn't be able to see it from afar. At home, I would polish the gold line first and let it dry. Then go in with the green polish, and just avoid the cuticle. If you're not going to go with black polish for fall/winter 2016, try green - it's a little less aggressive." TFW Fall 2016: Greta Constantine

Rita's take: “The collection is, in a few words: exuberant elegance, over-the-top glamour. There was a lot of metallic in the collection, so I chose silver. We wanted the nails to look mirrored, and I wanted to add a taint, something that would mirror the makeup. So we did a couple coats of No Place Like Chrome, then ripped apart a latex sponge and dabbed it in Licorice, and sponged it on the nail in certain areas. I wanted it to look textured, so we didn’t use a top coat for the runway. At home, use one – it will last longer!” READ MORE: Kylie Jenner is back at it again with the blond hair

TFW Fall 2016: Hayley Elsaesser

Rita's take: “Hayley was inspired by The Big Lebowski, so I knew I wanted a circular graphic. I kept negative space to prevent it from becoming too busy. We first used a strengthening base coat with a colour corrective quality, it corrects any staining, white spots or discolouration on the nails. All the girls had that base coat. Especially with a negative space manicure, it’s important to have a top coat or else it looks incomplete. Once the entire nail is glossy, it looks intentional. If these colours aren’t your cup of tea, try white and black, or colours within the grey spectrum. You can use a bobby pin if you don’t have a striping tool at home.” READ MORE: The exact 5 products you need to copy Bella Hadid's beauty look

TFW Fall 2016: Mackage

Rita's take: "This to me is quintessential Mackage: high-contrast, super graphic, very streamlined. They had a vision of a chic woman making her way through a snowstorm, so I wanted it to look cold, but refined as well. We did two coats of Blanc and mattified it to make it look chalky. Then, we added a glossy black detail at the cuticle with an arrow pointing down, and that is an homage to the clasp detail they use on their handbags." TFW Fall 2016: Hilary MacMillan

Rita's take: “Hilary MacMillan's nail art look was this beautiful lip print. Her collection was inspired by love. We did two coats of Lady Like, a dusty rose, and then we used Angora Cardi on the pinkie and the ring finger to create the print – they were all different sizes, and we polished them freehand with a striping brush. To create the print, start by polishing the Cupid’s bow in a V, then use small striping motions to taper the lines to create the top lip. To create the bottom lip, just do a semi-circle. It doesn’t need to look perfect, lopsided is fine.” READ MORE: 7 foods to avoid when flying

TFW Fall 2016: Helder Diego

Rita's take: “For Helder Diego, they were inspired by military, romance and a bit of grunge. So I thought we’d make something beautiful that’s also a bit tough. We used Stylenomics as our base colour, then added a few drops of Tuck It In My Tux, a sheer white colour, overtop. While it was still wet, we pressed a piece of cling wrap on it, ripped it off quickly, and that created a smoky pattern. We mattified that with a top coat to make it look like stone, then to make it more precious, we added the gold veins with Good As Gold." READ MORE: 10 trendy AF water bottles

TFW Fall 2016: WRKDEPT

Rita's take: "WRKDEPT gave me a really good challenge. They just launched a new logo that is seven colours, and they said they wanted all of them on the nails. These colours include: brown, pink, lime green and teal. I said, 'They're very concise in the logo, but how am I going to translate them onto nails?' Better yet, they had to be gender neutral. So I came up with a look that is not at all girlie, and is unified by one of the colours, a sandy taupe, in this split screen manicure. So the other side of the nail was an accent shade of any one of the other six colours." READ MORE: 17 celebs worth following on Snapchat

TFW Fall 2016: Mikhael Kale

Rita's take: "We initially came up with this wild idea for a ripped nylon manicure and it looked gorgeous, but if you're a good artist you've got to know when to [tone it down]. And when we saw it beside the clothes, it became kitsch. So we had to take it back a bit. We did two different colours: A hunter green called Off Tropic from the Essie spring collection, and a navy called After School Boy Blazer. Some of the girls had navy, and some got green, chosen randomly." READ MORE: Kylie Jenner back at it again with the blond hair
