Fans of lit-like-a-nightclub HIIT classes rejoice: Barry’s Bootcamp has arrived in Toronto. It’s the first Canadian location of the 50-minute high-intensity-interval-training workout, which launched in Los Angeles in 1998 and currently has international studios in Oslo, Stockholm, London, Milan and Dubai. “Toronto is a dynamic and diverse city with an incredible community, making it the perfect home for our first Canadian location,” said Barry’s CEO Joey Gonzalez in a statement. “It’s also been a much-requested location over the years as Canadians travel frequently through some of our North American cities and have become addicted to the workout.”

The cult-following workout toggles between floor exercises and interval-based running on a treadmill, all done in a dim, red-light room. Floor exercises vary between classes—for example, some focus on abs and arms, others on legs or full body—but you will always feel the burn. Hate running? Treadmill time is broken down into (fairly) manageable 10-minute segments (just when you feel like you might collapse, you switch off), but if you have an injury or truly hate to run, you can double up on the floor portion of the class.

The two-storey Toronto studio is the brand’s largest in the world, and also their first to debut Oribe haircare products in the men’s and women’s locker rooms. While there are no concrete plans to open another Canadian location, potential spaces are currently being scouted in Vancouver. First timer? Here’s an insider tip: you can pre-order your post-workout smoothie at the in-house Fuel Bar, and it will be ready and waiting for you when class ends. (You’ll be glad you did—each class is said to burn up to 1,000 calories.)
