For Louis Vuitton’s spring/summer 2009 collection, models worked a look that was at once wild and tamed, perfect for this most hedonistic of seasons. “This look is really hot right now,” says Justin German, Pantene Pro-V Consulting Stylist and co-owner of Toronto’s Shagg Salon. “It combines rough and smooth textures for a sophisticated and eye-catching style.”

To get the look, German recommends washing and conditioning hair with Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine Shampoo and Conditioner for shiny, dimensional hair. Next, apply Pantene Pro-V Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality Smoothing Crème to the ends of the hair and then throughout the whole head. Take a wide-tooth comb and work through to coat hair equally.

Then, with your head upside down, blow-dry hair downward to smooth in one direction. If you have curly hair, you can use a diffuser to bring out the curl at the ends of your hair. Once your hair is dry, apply Pantene Smooth Serum to the top of the hair to achieve that sleek look. To help tame flyaways, spray a paddle brush with hairspray and comb hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck.

Styling the ponytail will differ depending on your natural hair type. Curly-haired girls can take a paddle brush and back-brush their curls for an extremely textured look. Straight-hair beauties can take a small- to medium-sized curling iron to the ponytail, set, let cool,  then use a paddle brush and back-brush their ponytail for texture. Finish off the look with Pantene Prov-V Texturize! Ultimate Texture Hairspray for lasting style.

Finally, you can put a decorative clip in the hair to hide the elastic, or just pull a one-inch section of hair from the ponytail, wrap it around the elastic and fasten with a hair pin to pull this fab look together.

Summer is all about casual cool, and nothing says “beach babe” like a head full of natural-looking windswept waves.

Nicknamed “the King of Curl” by Vogue, celebrity hairstylist David Babaii has made his mark creating waves for Liv Tyler, Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker. To get this classic Ralph Lauren look, he recommends conditioning hair thoroughly and following that with a cool water rinse to seal the cuticle and for extra shine. Next, towel-dry your hair gently to remove excess water, and apply David Babaii for WildAid Amplifying Whipped Mousse for hold and lift.

Taking small sections starting at the nape, use the David Babaii for WildAid Blow Dryer (dries 50 percent faster, saving on electricity, and restores shine, suppleness and moisture with its Ceramic and Tourmaline technology) with nozzle attachment and a large round brush to smooth hair straight. When you’re finished drying the entire head, take a large section of hair and wrap it around a medium-size round brush. With the nozzle, blow hot air for about 10 seconds, then hit the cool button for a blast of cool air. Carefully release the section from the brush and continue until you have completed the whole head. If extra definition is needed, wrap a few large sections around a large-barrel curling iron leaving the ends free. Finish with a spritz of Mise en Plis Extra Hold Styling Spray to keep those lovely curls the whole day — and night — through.

If you’re pressed for time between afternoon sunbathing and evening partying, Mathieu Bouchard, marketing and education manager with Kérastase, has tips on how to get tousled waves — such as these, for Ruffian — without much fuss. First he recommends applying a quarter-sized amount of Ciment Thermique on damp hair to strengthen from within. Massage through starting with the ends and spreading throughout the rest of the hair.

Then braid the hair with the product on it; the heat of a blow-dryer will activate the Ciment Thermique. When the hair is dry, untie the braids and pass your fingers through your hair. Or you can create the same effect using an embossed curling iron. Accentuate its use on several hair locks.

Next, revive hair with Spray Volumactive, which gives hair body and fullness while providing it with an anti-static effect. Spray the product lock by lock. You can also apply it lightly on the roots to increase the volume effect.

Finish the look by gently spraying hair with Double Force Controle Ultime, which, as a bonus, includes a UV filter and a high concentration of fixing polymers for extra-strength hold. Now you’re ready for sunset cocktails!

Since you can’t let your hair down at every fiesta, look to Yves Saint Laurent’s polished example for sophisticated chic. “This look is a quick and easy way to transform your day hair into a striking evening ’do,” says Alain Larivee, John Frieda Canadian Creative Consultant and official hairstylist of this year’s Genie Awards.

To create this look, he recommends washing hair with Luxurious Volume Full Splendour Shampoo and Conditioner to create fullness and strengthen hair from the inside out, filling in damaged areas and plumping the hair for healthy volume.

Then apply a generous amount of Luxurious Volume Bountiful Body Mousse, to increase hair’s diameter and lift at the roots for weightless, non-sticky all-day volume. After you’ve applied the mousse, with your head upside-down, use a flat or vent brush to blow-dry your hair from roots to ends.

Once hair is dry, section off a square portion of hair in the bang area starting at the hair line and going back to the crown. You will come back to this piece later, so clip it out of the way for now. Brush the rest of the hair upwards and secure in a ponytail at the crown, then backcomb your ponytail.  To hide the elastic band you are using to hold your ponytail, wrap a strand of hair around the elastic and secure it using a bobby pin.

Now, grab the bang section you squared off earlier, backcomb the roots to create lift and then smooth it back and incorporate it into the ponytail section. Secure ends with bobby pins.  Hold everything in place with a finishing hairspray like Luxurious Volume All-Out Hold Hairspray, which also protects against summer humidity.

Lastly, secure a barrette or slide a comb in place to create a pin-backed ridge. Finish with a final spritz of hairspray and you’re ready to dazzle them all.
