Bold berry lips and sexy metallic eyes: That's the theme for fall's prettiest makeup.

"This season, it's all about glam eyes," says Liz Pugh, international makeup artist and spokesperson for Rimmel London. At Oscar de la Renta and Versace, glimmering shadows offset clothes of a more conservative nature. But two things are new about this fall's metallics: texture and colour. "They're not so much shimmery as they are high-shine and very molten-looking," says Pugh. And don't just stick to charcoal hues; any shade goes, from violet to pewter to bronze.
Skin
Your skin should look healthy and luminous, says Pugh, so avoid heavy foundations and powders. Even out your skin tone with a tinted moisturizer or light, mineral-based foundation, and use pressed powder to absorb any excess
shine in your T-zone.

Using a brown, black or charcoal eyeliner, rim the upper and lower lash lines and smudge with your fingertip or a small brush. For more staying power, apply a powder eyeshadow in the same shade overtop, blending upward and outward. Sweep a pale metallic eyeshadow-in a cream or powder format-across the entire lid, and add a light shimmer to the corner of the eye and directly above the pupil "to really open up the eye," says Pugh. Finish with two coats of black mascara and, for added drama, false lashes.

Lips
Matte lipsticks in pale-pink or nude shades pair best with iridescent eyes. But make sure that your application technique isn't too precise. "If you're using a darker shade, apply it with your finger for a worn-in look," says Pugh.
