Canada's top models spill their beauty secrets.
Alana Zimmer Bio This ethereal beauty was discovered while working at an East Side Mario’s restaurant in Kitchener, Ont., in 2005. Her first editorial was for Flare, and soon after she was storming runways for Gucci, Calvin Klein and Chanel and landing campaigns for DKNY and Jean Paul Gaultier.
Off-duty makeup “I rarely wear makeup, but when I do I wear Madina Milano highlighter, Laura Mercier concealer, Maybelline mascara and a bit of Smith’s Rosebud Salve.”
Favourite fragrance “Right now, I really love Armani Code, and I also really like Marc Jacobs Daisy and Calvin Klein Euphoria.”
Favourite fashion designers “I love Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, Christophe Decarnin for Balmain, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen and Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga. I buy a lot of Alexander Wang — it’s cool and very wearable.”
Memorable makeup look “One of my favourites this season was for Christopher Kane and consisted only of concealer and curled lashes.”
Flawless-skin secrets “For removing makeup, I use Bioderma Créaline [Sensibio in Canada]. I love Dr. Alkaitis products because they’re very natural. I also really love Yonka creams because they’re nice and light. I’m a huge skincare junkie!”
Alana's beauty must-haves: Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Parfum Spray ($75 for 50 mL); Smith’s Rosebud Salve ($8.50); Yonka Crème 28 ($62); Dr. Alkaitis Organic Mascara & Eye Make-up Remover ($23); Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-3 ($35).
