Calling all beauty junkies! Get pampered—for less!—at The Stillwater this month.
By Laura deCarufel and Jennifer Lee
Fall is all about new beginnings, but for Toronto style reporters, renewal comes a bit later in the season, after the madness of TIFF, the insanity of Fashion Week. Now that life is slowing down again, we decided to unwind the loveliest way possible: By spending a morning at the
Stillwater Spa at the Park Hyatt
. Normally, it would be among the most indulgent ways possible too, but this month, the Stillwater is offering an extra special deal. Billed as the "Stillwater Sampler", the package includes a facial, manicure and pedicure, all 30 minutes each, and all for $150. It's an ideal way to experience Toronto's most consistently excellent spa. First up? The facial.
The facial features the essentials—cleansing, exfoliation, hydrating masque—along with an arm massage and those wonderful heated towels wrapped around your feet. The 30-minute time period means no time for extractions, which means that we walked back to the main relaxation room with glowing, not scarlet, skin.
As we waited for our next treatment, we sipped piping hot mint tea and cucumber-infused water, while flipping through the latest magazines (
ELLE, Vogue, InStyle
). The space is dimly lit and cozy—conducive to relaxation and daydreams about how much fun it would be to be snowed in at the Stillwater. (Wouldn't it? Even better than the
episode where the cast, for some reason, is locked overnight in Capeside High.)
The pedicure was up next. We chose poppy hues from the Deborah Lippman Collection, then enjoyed a delicious elderflower drink while our therapists buffed, filed and painted. "Waking Up in Vegas", Deborah Lippman's über popular (and Lady Gaga-approved) shade was our unanimous choice for manicures. Then it was time for the ultimate luxury. Since our nails were too fresh to trust to the on-site sauna, Jacuzzi, and steam room, we each chose our own chaise longue with private TV, drew the curtain, and caught up on the mid-morning news and
What Not To Wear
. Upstairs and outside, tourists were marvelling at the ROM, business people were ordering power lunches, shoppers were browsing at Holts. Later, when we emerged onto Bloor Street, we felt exactly as we'd hoped to: Relaxed, certainly, but also totally revitalized, and ready to rejoin the city.
The Stillwater Sampler is offered until the end of October. Check out the spa's website for details on the rest of its services.
