Margot Robbie stuns with her bold lip. Image courtesy Hourglass.
At last night's 87th annual Academy Awards, there were few beauty slam dunks. Sure, everyone looked gorgeous enough, but the lack of risk-taking beauty beauty was a bit uninspired. Though there was one person who stood out of from the pack, from head to toe—read more about the best in Oscar Best and Worst Dressed by here—and that person was Australian actress Margot Robbie. She wins best beauty look, hands down. WHY? Well first off, there's a look to her look—it's a vivid, coral-tinged red lip with a super matte finish. So she's super on trend for Fall 2015, since red and berry lips have taken New York City and London by storm.
How to score Margot's look?
Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven
Robbie's makeup artist Tyron Macchausen said it was inspired by "old Hollywood glamour" and wanted to make a statement.
1. After prepping the skin with Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup in Honey & Beige, he contoured with the brand's Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light (this product is a beauty ed favourite!) and Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light to highlight her cheekbones.
2. Then, Macchausen used a combo of Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Blonde and Brunette (this is an amazing memo, people—your brows often have multiple colour tones within them, so don't be afraid to custom blend 'em).
3. Eyelids were left bare aside from Hourglass 1.5 mm Mechanical Gel Eyeliner to the inside of Robbie's last line. He finished with a few coats of Hourglass Film Noir Mascara to top lashes. This REALLY grounded the look—bare lids + bold lips = modern fashion girl.
4. And for the final crescendo, Macchausen lined her lips with Hourglass Panoramic Long Wear Lip Pencil in Raven, followed by Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven ($33, sephora.ca).
